This introductory course is designed for younger students who are just learning to read. The same books and assignments that are taught in our Lit for Littles program are adapted for new readers. Games, art projects, and group work will help lay a foundation for a lifelong love of literature!
Parents will read aloud one book per week with their students, working up to students reading books themselves. Simple homework assignments will be offered. The work load is entirely flexible, based on each student’s ability, and the teacher will work closely with parents to provide a personalized program that is challenging, but never overwhelming.
Some of the books and activities we will enjoy together are:
Petunia by Roger Duvoisin
How to Make and Apple Pie and See the World by Marjorie Priceman
Last Stop on Market Street by Matt de la Pena
Mercy Watson to the Rescue by Kate DiCamillo
