Economics and Personal Finance
(One Semester Course)

Thursdays 10:45 – 12:15 - FIRST SEMESTER ONLY
$415 for entire one semester course
*There is an annual student fee for all students taking classes at Pacific Coast Learning Center. Some charter schools allow for this fee to be added to the cost of classes rather than being paid out-of-pocket by parents. If your charters agrees, you may add the cost of the student fee to your first PO. ​

 
This introductory A-G course is taught in two sections that make an often dry subject engaging and applicable to real life.
 
The first section introduces basic economic concepts and institutions and their application in the American economy. Students will come to understand the economic decision-making processes of consumers, business firms, and the government.  The second section of the course offers the opportunity to explore personal finance and equips students with tools and understanding to make wise financial choices. This section is divided into content areas which introduce basic concepts in cash flow, debt management, proper protection, asset accumulation, retirement planning, and wealth preservation.

(Students will demonstrate a basic understanding of personal finance by completing a career report. This project will include selecting an occupation or start-up business and creating a realistic plan and budget.)

The workbook for this course is included in the cost of the class. 
Lined paper and pens/pencils will be required in class every day, so a binder containing these items and to transport homework is helpful. 
All other materials will be provided by the instructor
*This class requires printing several materials at home. Please have paper and ink in your printer!
