Ancient World History
Recommended for 6th grade
(may be taken by students in grades 6-8)
This engaging course surveys the history, culture, geography, politics, and religions of ancient civilizations from approximately 8000 BC to 500 AD. Students study Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Kush; the civilizations of India and China; and the societies of ancient Greece, concluding with the Roman Empire. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking as students examine why civilizations emerged, how they interacted, and why they declined, while exploring their lasting contributions and connections to the modern world. The course builds a strong foundation for high school social studies and beyond.
