Does the course content change from year to year?
-
The elementary and middle school classes are set up on a three year rotation; meaning a child can take the same class for three years and not read the same thing twice. (A student entering the elementary class in 3rd grade can take the same class through 5th grade and read different novels, short stories, and poetry every year. The same is true for 6th through 8th grades.) The assignments are similar every year, but as students progress, they are expected to turn in more advanced work. The Lit for Littles course is set up on a similar two year rotation.
Can I enroll my student mid-year?
-
Yes! (If your student has already been approved to register for classes at PCLC) Writtenburg Door classes are structured with unit studies that typically last 3-6 weeks each. This makes jumping in to the classes at any time during the year fairly easy. If there is room in the class, your student is welcome! It’s always best to start at the beginning, but students who join mid-course usually have no trouble with the coursework.

All Writtenburg Door high school classes are independently approved as A-G through the UCOP, and they are recognized by all UC, Cal State, and community colleges. Students in who are independently homeschooled, in PSPs, or are part of a charter school may get A-G on their high school transcripts if all course requirements are followed. Please speak with your school’s guidance counselor for more information. Parents should discuss A-G options with their charter school representative before registering.
